Product Overview

This sift-proof FIBC sealing cord is a 100% polyester woven filler cord engineered to close the needle holes left along bulk bag seams. Fine powders and granular products can escape through stitch perforations during filling, storage and transport; running this cord through the seam creates a tight, continuous barrier that limits that leakage. The cord is supplied white as standard, in an 8 mm width, and is available in customised sizes to suit different seam geometries and sewing equipment.

Structure and Construction

The cord is produced from continuous polyester yarns in a woven construction. The resulting surface shows a regular, closely packed grid of interlocking threads rather than a smooth extruded finish. This textured structure gives the cord a firm, rounded profile that holds its position when pressed into a seam, and provides a mechanical grip against the fabric edges on either side of the stitching line.

Polyester was chosen for its balance of tensile strength, dimensional stability and resistance to moisture pickup. The cord does not readily stretch or flatten under the compression applied during bag filling, so the seal remains consistent along the full length of the seam. Because the material is a woven textile rather than a coated or laminated strip, it stays flexible and can follow curved seams, corner transitions and the sift-proof closures typically found on FIBC discharge and filling spouts.
